Archbishop Jackels spoke to a congregation of at least 500 at the annual Pro-Life Mass held at Saint Ambrose Cathedral before the Midwest March for Life on January 16. In his homily, Archbishop Jackels called for a defense of life and dignity that incorporates all components of Catholic teaching, creating an integrated vision that incorporates both mercy and justice. He observed that the first right, of life, must precede all others in order for the demands of justice to be served, and the pro-life message cannot succeed unless it is lived as a consistent one that honors the common good.
