A few quick updates:
The U.S. Catholic bishops’ social justice department has issued an action alert regarding the federal Farm Bill. Please contact your member of Congress today at www.votervoice.net/usccb/home and ask them to insist on changes to the bill. It has serious flaws that would negatively impact poor, hungry and vulnerable people. You can see the U.S. bishops’ recent letter on the House Farm Bill here.
Some provisions at issue include SNAP (food stamps), conservation plans, and programs that help small farming operations. The House of Representatives may bring the Farm Bill for a vote later this week. Thanks for your consideration.
Our friends at the Patients Rights Action Fund have created two new videos on YouTube that help explain why assisted suicide is an obstacle to helping people get the care they need.
Gov. Kim Reynolds is still taking a look at the state budget bills that were passed by the legislature. She has 30 days to sign or veto any bills passed during the last three calendar days of the session. It would not be unusual to see a few line-item vetoes.
Thanks for being a part of our Legislative Network!
