Faithful Citizenship for Iowa Catholics, 2016
While Election Day is next Tuesday, Nov. 8, more than 450,000 Iowans have already voted. We suspect that many of our readers are among the early voters. If you are – thanks for participating. Now’s your chance to pray for the rest of us as we prepare to enter the voting booth. If you’re interested in praying a novena for Faithful Citizenship click here.
There’s still time to vote at your county auditor’s office or visit sos.iowa.gov for voting locations. You can also still register to vote on Election Day next Tuesday.
The Iowa Catholic Conference does not take sides in partisan political campaigns, but the bishops consider it to be part of their job to help you form your conscience so you can make decisions about your political involvement. As Pope Francis recently said about voting, “Study the proposals well, pray, and choose in conscience.”

At a time when we hear anything but civil and respectful dialogue among candidates, interest groups, superPACs, and even sometimes among family members, can we be witnesses to civil and respectful dialogue? Can we model the love and charity expected from disciples of Christ?
