We are stewards of God’s Creation
One of the seven core principles of Catholic Social Teaching as identified by the U.S. bishops is “care for creation.” We show our respect for the Creator by our stewardship of creation. Care for the earth is not just an Earth Day slogan, it is a requirement of our faith. We are called to protect people and the planet, living our faith in relationship with all of God’s creation.
Economic benefits and the creation of jobs are important but need to be balanced against any consequences to the environment where future generations and we will live. The ethical and moral dimensions should not be overlooked.
